CARE WITHOUT BORDERS: A Mother’s Letter
An increasing influx of people with disabilities from around the
world has sought out Beit Issie Shapiro’s unique specialized care
at our International
Rehabilitation Center.
Philip was 18 months
old when he visited
Beit Issie Shapiro
from Bulgaria. After being diagnosed with cerebral palsy, his
mother Eva brought him to the Center for a month-long tailored
therapeutic program.
“In Bulgaria, there are no services for children with disabilities. As
we searched for options abroad, our neurologist told us that Beit
Issie Shapiro was the best place to go.
At Beit Issie Shapiro, Philip’s tailored treatment program included
Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Snoezelen. His
progress was amazing. Thanks to the therapy he received at Beit
Issie Shapiro, his back is stronger, he can support himself with
two hands, and he has found new ways to move overall. Thanks
particularly to Snoezelen, he has even discovered new feelings.
His senses are stimulated – his eyes, his hands, his ears – and he is
getting to know the world around him. He is truly happy.
As a parent of a child with a disability, at Beit Issie Shapiro I have
learned that life can go on, and we can find new possibilities. We
know Philip will benefit in the long-term from everything he has
been exposed to here. As parents, we have learned so much in
