About Beit Issie Shapiro
:
Beit Issie Shapiro is Israel’s leading organization in the development and
provision of innovative therapies and services for children with disabilities.
Dear Friends,
Yesterday I was parking my car at Beit Issie Shapiro and saw a very touching moment. A young
man in his early 20’s, who has cerebral palsy and autism, was walking to his mom’s car after dental
treatment. He suddenly froze in the middle of the parking lot and was not able to move. His mom
came from behind and gave him a huge hug after which he could walk again.
I got very teary watching this special moment. I witnessed the relationship between a mom and
her child with disabilities. For a moment, I saw what it means to have a child who will never be
independent. But I also saw the special life-long bond between them and what it must mean for the
mom, for good and for bad. I then thought of my son who lives far away and got a knot in my heart.
Later that day, I went to visit Shiri’s kindergarten in the Aaron De Lowe Early Intervention Center
and saw how Eytan and Erez and Tomer have become so communicative through the use of their
iPads. I was deeply moved to think that together – donors and therapists at Beit Issie Shapiro – we
have been able to open an avenue for these little heroes to say what they like, to say what is on their
minds and to ask for what makes them happy.
What a privilege to be part of this amazing organization, Beit Issie Shapiro, that really changes the
lives of these children in such a significant way! These children give us the inspiration to work on
the level of the U.N. and change laws in our Knesset that impact on the lives of thousands of other
children. They are the source of our passion and belief that we have to think big and can
make a difference!
We thank you for choosing to support our mission to help Eytan
and Erez and Tomer in Ra’anana and to make major macro changes
across Israel and worldwide.
We still have much to do and appeal to you to continue to believe
in our mission that has proven that we can, and must, keep moving
forward to impact positively on the lives of children with disabilities.
Yours,
Jean Judes
Executive Director
