REVEALING NEWFOUND ABILITIES
Our pioneering use of iPads for therapy
has enabled children with physical and/or
intellectual disabilities to demonstrate
exceptional abilities and participation that
were never thought possible. Thanks to the
Ruderman Family Foundation, we have
identified the iPad as a remarkable tool in the
classroom for both didactic and recreational
purposes on a daily basis. Parents enthusiastically
report an improvement in the overall quality
of life at home.
WHEELING TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE
We provide our children with severe cerebral
palsy with their only opportunity to learn how
to use a motorized wheelchair. This vehicle is a
vital means to a child’s independence and
significantly affects his/her overall development.
Thanks to the Wolfson Family Charitable Trust
and Israel’s National Insurance Institute, our
children now have access to a motorized
wheelchair, and we train them to use it for
mobility and autonomy that will benefit them
for the rest of their lives.
MAKING TECHNOLOGY ACCESSIBLE
So that our children have every opportunity to
maximize their potential, we have designed
creative adaptations to existing technological
devices, tailored to any disability. For the boy
who can’t grip a stylus, we rigged it up so he
can operate with an open hand. For the girl who
can’t hold herself up but is cognitively active,
we attached the iPad underneath her chair. This
out-of-the-box thinking by our staff has bridged
some of the huge everyday gaps in opportunity
and accessibility for children with disabilities.
