MAKING AN IMPACT ON THE WORLD STAGE
REPRESENTING ISRAELI EXCELLENCE
AT THE UNITED NATIONS
The State of Israel turned to Beit Issie Shapiro to
represent the Start-Up Nation at the United Nations’
6th Annual Conference of States Parties to the
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
After presenting our innovations and community-
based rehabilitation approach, delegates from
across the world – including Estonia, Colombia,
New Zealand, the Vatican, and even Lebanon (with
whom Israel does not have diplomatic relations) –
approached us to learn more and collaborate.
PLAYGROUNDS FOR EVERY
CHILD, EVERYWHERE
All children deserve the right to play. In 2013, we
expanded our global professional consultation and
collaboration program by promoting inclusive play
based on our renowned Park Chaverim model –
the first inclusive and accessible playground in
Israel – in countries including South Africa, the
United Kingdom and Australia. Thanks to your
support, we can fulfill our shared vision of a world
in which any child with disabilities has an outlet for
outdoor play and social inclusion in the community.
GIVING HOPE GLOBALLY
An increasing influx of people with disabilities from
around the world has sought out Beit Issie Shapiro’s
unique specialized care at our International Therapy
Center. They often come from countries where
people with disabilities are severely marginalized
and lack disability services or basic information.
Families have benefitted from Beit Issie Shapiro’s
comprehensive and tailored therapeutic program
for the child, parent counseling as well a road map on
continuing treatment upon returning to their countries
of origin, including Turkey, Russia and Bulgaria.
